A Voice in the night

Tread softly, for this is holy ground.
It may be, if we could but look with knowing eyes,
this spot we stand on, is Paradise.
--author unknown--

A voice in the night speaking softly
A voice in the night calling my name
My heart has eyes when He's calling
The voice of the Lord strong and so gentle
Calling to follow Him

Just like the breeze when He whispers
Just like the sea calling me to obey
I want to say whenever He calls me
'Lord here I am. I'll always love You
Call and I'll follow You'

Sometimes it's hard to listen to God
When so many things surround you
Fun times and laughter
Sometimes just masquerades
The loneliness I feel when there
Is no one who can really be my friend

That's when a voice speaks so softly
That's when my joy rises again
My heart has eyes when He's calling
The voice of the Lord strong and so gentle
Calling to follow Him

When so many things demand my attention
I remember then my special place
A place where I can wait
And listen to

His voice in the night speaking softly
His voice in the daytime calling my name
My heart has eyes when He's calling
The voice of the Lord strong and so gentle

Bright as the sun
Soft as the willow
Calling to follow Him

Do you hear Him? He's as close as the breeze ruffling the leaves on the trees. His whisper sets the wind chimes in motion. His breath caresses your face as you raise your head to watch the stars at night. Many times we stay so busy we don't allow those special moments that God wants to spend with us. He made all there is, all we enjoy is a direct result of His creation.

May He hold you in the palm of His hand, close to His heart so that you can hear His heartbeat. And know that God loves you.

  • I used to listen to this song as a child- I have looked for it for years, but could only remember the chorus. If you still read these comments, could you tell me who sang this, or on what children's cd or tape to find it?

    my e-mail is tntbottoms@gmail.com

    Thank you!!!
